Morning Routine
“Morning Routine”
This painting came together slowly. I was listening to Serotonin by Sophia Bel on repeat for weeks, and little by little, this scene started to form in my head. None of it is real in the literal sense, but all of it feels familiar. A table that holds both softness and exhaustion. Coffee, flowers, a lighter, medication, an ashtray even though I do not smoke.
I was thinking about how care does not always look graceful. Sometimes it is messy. Sometimes it is just about getting through. But even in that, there can be beauty.
This painting holds that in-between space. The mornings that are not aesthetic or inspirational or perfect. Just real. When the goal is not to thrive but to manage. And still, you add a flower to the table because something in you wants to try anyway.
